Clariant, Gammelsdorf, Germany
Clariant mines bentonite in the Freising district of Bavaria, near the town of Gammelsdorf. The assignment was an Integrated Report – photographs of open-pit extraction along the Isar plain, where some of Germany’s largest bentonite deposits have been worked since 1906. We documented the active pit, the processing facilities, and the recultivation work that follows each extraction phase. The scale reads like a landscape; the subject is industrial chemistry.
Further Clariant work: the pigment line in Höchst, and four European production sites. Portrait photography and CGI visuals from the Integrated Report are shown in two further entries.
