CSCS, Lugano, Switzerland

SWITCH provides the high-performance network infrastructure that connects Swiss academic institutions to one another and to the broader internet. The assignment was editorial photography for the SWITCH Annual Report, shot at the Swiss National Supercomputing Centre (CSCS) in Lugano. CSCS houses some of the fastest computing infrastructure in Europe – server racks, cooling systems, and the operational logic of a facility running at scale. The photographs needed to show that infrastructure clearly, without turning it into spectacle.
