Industrial Photography

Production halls, foundries, cleanrooms, refineries and open-pit mines: places where work does not stop for the camera. Industrial photography starts long before the first shot is taken. It often requires permits, safety briefings and a solid plan for every hour on site. One team, from the first brief to final delivery. Whether booked from Zurich or Munich, we travel to wherever the location is.

We create images for annual and integrated reports, websites, brochures and campaigns. Some clients need a complete image library. Others need ten good images for their first website. Whether it’s a production line in a single afternoon or multiple locations over an extended period: Write to us or call us directly.

We have photographed the full range of reciprocating compressor technologies and services for Burckhardt Compression in Winterthur for fifteen years. We have also followed the company to its own sites and its customers’ installations, on land and at sea. That took us to eight more countries: from Ningbo, Pune and Busan to Spain, France, Germany, Sweden and Italy. In Shenyang, the company’s Yuanda foundry pours molten iron into castings during live production, heat and shift changes included.

Clariant took us across Europe, to Germany, France, Italy and Poland. The work ran from the magenta pigment line in Höchst to the bentonite mine in Gammelsdorf.

Some relationships start small. Mechtop in Wangen bei Olten first asked us for a few pictures for its new website. The company has since grown to fifty people. The work has grown with it: today we also make its corporate videos.

Conditions vary widely. Datwyler makes components for drug packaging and medical devices in its cleanroom in Alken. Work there has to be close and clean. Bulk solid fuels at CPL Industries in Cleethorpes come with coal dust, steam and outdoor light.

Some projects begin before the first photograph. For Datwyler and Swissmem we also developed the image concept. At Swissmem, that concept held five member companies together in one visual language for a website relaunch.

Precision engineering runs through many of these projects: Rego-Fix tool clamping systems in Tenniken, Harting connectors in Biel, the Audemars Piguet Code 11.59 case in Le Brassus. So does scale, from Megasol’s automated solar line in Langenthal to a refinery in Burghausen. We photographed the refinery at night from a cherry picker, for an ABB image campaign. In restricted areas such as Ambrian Energy’s EX zones in Bremen, everything depends on preparation. Our ON LOCATION Journal piece Guided by Safety describes how that works.
