Keramik Laufen for Valiant Bank, Bern, Switzerland

Valiant Bank commissioned this company portrait as part of an anniversary publication produced by Crafft Communication, Zurich. Our sanitary ware photography took us to the Keramik Laufen factory in Laufen. A site that has been producing sanitary ceramics since 1892. One hall, one line: washbasin forms in serial production, suspended on a conveyor that runs the full length of the building. The brief came from a financial magazine. The subject was manufacturing at scale.

The hall is the picture. For the Keramik Laufen sanitary ware photography, we chose a position where the repetition of hundreds of unfired forms does the work: nothing in the frame had to be staged, and nothing could have been.

Part of our Industrial work.
