CGI for Munich Re, Munich, Germany

Munich Re Financial Markets needed five CGI key visuals for their financial markets communications. The concept and layout came from Keller Maurer Design in Munich; we handled the full 3D production. Mathematical forms, rendered to the tolerances a financial brand requires: no ambiguity, no surplus.

The form came out of the conversation with the client’s team: an ellipsoid, described by the equation xᵀAx = 1. It sits inside the normal distribution, on which classical market models are built. For the Munich Re CGI key visuals, we cut a smaller ellipsoid out of a larger, flatter one, which gave the ring, and lit it as we would a real object.

Honestly, higher mathematics is not normally part of our core business. But if a strong picture comes out of it, we are happy to do the sums.
