Paul Scherrer Institute, Villigen, Switzerland

The Paul Scherrer Institute in Villigen conducts research across matter and materials, energy, and human health – including proton therapy treatments delivered on site. Over more than ten years, we photographed PSI repeatedly: for annual reports, corporate brochures, and their magazine 5232. The work ranged from precision instruments in laboratory conditions to patients in treatment. Some assignments stay with you not because of what was difficult, but because of what was at stake.
