Burckhardt Compression, Winterthur, Switzerland

Burckhardt Compression builds reciprocating compressor systems for the oil and gas, chemical and industrial gas industries, and has done so in Winterthur for over 175 years. Our Burckhardt Compression photography in Winterthur began as an annual report commission in the early 2010s and grew from there. Facility photography, executive portraits, production documentation. Over more than fifteen years, the brief changed shape repeatedly. New campaigns, new formats, different teams; the visual language held.

Fifteen years of Burckhardt Compression photography in the same Winterthur halls has one practical advantage: we know the light, we know the routes and the shooting days get shorter. We made the portraits on the floor rather than in a studio corner, which is why the people in them look like they belong there.

We also photographed Burckhardt Compression in Ningbo, Shenyang, Busan and Pune. A separate entry documents the SYCC foundry in Shenyang, where compressor components are cast on site.
